Working with Bar Codes

All Orders comes the software you need to work with bar codes. All Orders will work with any bar code scanner that acts as a keyboard emulator (which is most scanners). All you have to do is set a ‘tab post amble’ to the scanner (refer to scanner documentation for instructions on how to do this). Essentially, this set up is the same as typing and tabbing.     You can try it your self, open any transaction and type the name or number of an item and press Tab. You will notice that the item is added to the transaction.

In addition to the Item name or number, All Orders will recognize an item’s UPC and manufacturer’s part number.  On a purchase order and receiving docs, the vendor’s part # will be recognized, and on sales orders and ship docs, the customer’s part # will be recognized. These numbers are entered in the Item editor.

Within the Enter Lot / Serial Number you scan bar coded serial numbers.   Finally in the count screen,  you can scan the item, lot/serial # and bin.

If your items do not have bar codes, then you can print labels from All Orders just as you would with any other report or form.

To add a bar code to your report or label, click on the bar code icon and drag your mouse to the spot you want to the bar code created .  Release the mouse and you will see a cross bow.  Hold down the mouse button again, and draw a box for your field.

Go to the menu Design, and select Property List.  In the Datafield, add the field you want scanned, i.e. Item.  Press Tab and Preview.  If bar code states the “Bar code is too big to fit in this area,”  go back to the Modify Design screen and increase the field size.
